Shotcut is the video editor you need

I started using shotcut several years ago, and since then have never looked back.  It only continues to get better.  Don't be fooled by its quiet startup, every feature you need is there, but it doesn't overwhelm you with a cluttered interface.

Free and open source for Windows and Linux.  I don't know why this one doesn't get mentioned more, but I never see it on people's "Great Free Software" lists.  I think it should be at the top.

Covid-19 lockdown pushes Vanuatu sports to the top

With Covid-9 shutting down maybe all worldwide sporting events, the Vanuatu Cricket association decided to live stream an exhibition Cricket match.  Surprisingly nearly half a million people, starved for live sports entertainment, tuned in.

If you're unfamiliar with Cricket, here's a great 5-minute video that explains everything.

A port-doubling switch to halve your cable costs

These guys make a port doubling switch that can double-up devices on an Ethernet cable to keep them physically separated, without VLANing.  I haven't tried it, but for $99, I might.  They have other unique stuff too.

Listen.exe. A small utility to listen and reply on multiple TCP ports

Listen.exe is great for testing whether a system is accessible from another system.  It creates TCP listeners on whatever ports you specify (they run concurrently), and responds with small simple messages you write when a connection is made.  Great troubleshooting tool.  Single executable with no DLLs or installer.

NetXMS for Network and System monitoring

This one doesn't seem to get as much coverage as I think it should.  It is a remarkably complete and flexible system, out of the box.

Nirsoft Nirlauncher

Nirsoft is a suite of dozens of utilities for Windows systems, like a relative of sysinternals.  (I can't unzip it with 7-zip; use the Windows built-in zip handler.)

APNIC uses log-base-2 for pricing

APNIC uses log base2 for pricing.  I'd never seen that level of mathematics for a pricing calculation before.

Wikisuite - An all-in-one solution for small business email, calendar, network, chat, files and

I don't know how I hadn't run across Wikisuite until today.  I'll be trying this one out.  In spite of the name it isn't just a wiki with some add-ons, take a look.

Use textverified.com to receive text messages

Great for expats.  Allows you to temporarily rent a US phone number -- an actual one, not a VoIP one, so you can receive sms - a txt message...
